Production from local resources, for local needs, is the most rational way of economic life.

Lake Oswego Value Exchange: a Social Purpose TimeBank

Lake Oswego Value Exchange (LOVE) is a new way to exchange our offers and wants (skills, talents, goods and services) to meet our local needs with our abundant resources. Community Credit, denominated in HOURs is the basis of exchange between participants through the LOVEbank. You perform all your account transactions online through a web broswer on your Mac, PC, smartphone or tablet.
The LOVEbank connects us through an online community directory where you post your offers and search for your wants. The LOVEbank provides a searchable marketplace to facilitate exchanges, a reference system based on participants' feedback about transaction satisfaction, while maintaining records of all accounts and transactions.
The LOVEbank can help:
• the un(der)-employed to find meaningful work,
• build community through an organized value exchange,
• improve our quality of life by getting to know our neighbors,
• provide opportunities for people to trade without spending money,
• satisfy our unmet needs with local, underutilized & abundant resources.
There is more to banking than money. We all understand the value of a Blood Bank. We can also bank Care, Skills, Talents, Goods & Services.

CARE Banking

We can grow older better together.

Are you caring for someone who is living at home? Do you need help to continue living independently in your own home? First Lady Rosalyn Carter said it best:
There are only four kinds of people in the world – those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers and those who will need caregivers.
Let's gracefully age-in-place together, here at home.

TIME Banking

We can help to make ends meet.

You have something of value to exchange: time, skills, talents, goods & services. And what others have to offer may benefit you. Let's get to know our neighbors better, help those who are un(der)-employed find meaningful work and satisfy our unmet needs with our abundant local resources.
Time is our greatest resource so banking it helps to strengthen our community. Together we can share our true wealth without spending our scarce dollars.

HELP Banking

We can be prepared for emergencies.

Our most immediate source of help, in an emergency situation or disaster, is our neighbors and community.
Knowing who has key skills allows everyone to contribute in a meaningful way. Knowing who may be vulnerable due to disability or age – children and elders who may be home alone – helps ensure that everyone is OK.
Planning ahead is crucial for successful emergency preparedness and resilience.
